Amazon‘s long-anticipated Prime Air drone delivery system once again made headlines with an accidental incident in Richardson, Texas. A Prime Air drone lost control and crashed into an apartment building, as witnessed by Cessy Johnson who reported that the drone’s propellers were still spinning and emitting a burnt smell upon impact. Firefighters were called to the scene as a precaution against the risk of fire, but fortunately, no fire broke out. The company stated that the incident occurred during the drone’s vertical takeoff/landing maneuvers.

Amazon has been working to address issues for years

Amazon clarified that only minor damage occurred to the building and that they would cover the repair costs while the cause of the incident is still under investigation. This is not the first time Amazon’s drone program has faced similar accidents. In 2021, there were at least eight drone accidents within a 13-month period, one of which resulted in a major fire. In December 2024, two separate accidents occurred in Oregon, prompting the company to announce that they had addressed software issues. In October 2025, a collision between two Prime Air drones using a winch in Arizona led to the suspension of service in the area for investigation by the FAA and the NTSB.

Despite all these incidents, the company’s tests still pose serious risks of accidents. Do you wish to see a similar service implemented in Turkey? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
